

Prior to joining the Activa PR team, Benjamin was the Communications Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area, a multi-million dollar non-profit. He brings an extensive background as a research and media consultant. Recent clients have included the National Center for Minority Civic Engagement (at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York) and the Center for the Integration and Improvement of Journalism (at San Francisco State University).
As a journalist, he has written on a freelance basis for Playboy, the SciFi Channel, Gannett, and SF Weekly (for whom he is currently a political blogger). He is also a former Senior Reporter and Columnist for Messenger Post Newspapers, in New York, and currently writes a weekly column for GateHouse Media. His work has won numerous national and state press awards.
He has a Master's Degree in Linguistics (specializing in semantics) from Purdue University and received an Associated Colleges of the Midwest fellowship from the Newberry Library in Chicago.
He uses his expertise as a working journalist to create press releases and media messages that stand out from the pack, and specializes in making hard to understand concepts simple - and spectacular - for a mass audience.
